Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa-licious!

Over the weekend my husband and I had a luxurious treat at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa.

While my husband had a massage, I was pampered with a warm cream manicure, then a facial, followed by a make-up refresher (eyes and lips only - it is not recommended to wear make-up after facials, it will clog your pores). My skin had been problematic while living here in Arizona, and in efforts to clear it up my Esthetician Ashley at Red Door Spa recommended an Oxygen Blast basically to help the clogged pores breath and release the toxins. She also recommended this at-home product between treatments: B. Kamins Bio-Maple Lactic 10 leave-on facial product.

I think I'll give it a try!

We had a relaxing rest of the weekend, just being together and celebrating the first week of the New Year with some luxurious R&R! I'll say it again, I'm so thankful God has blessed me with my husband, who's MAN enough to enjoy this luxury with me. (Note: We've had couples' massages before and they are a DO! With Valentine's Day not far away, a gift certificate and RSVP at the spa is a gift that will make you shine!)

In a pinch? Make your own make-up it's a sinch!

Do you have leftover bits and pieces of make-up in containers stashed in the back of your beauty closet?

That unused, often forgotten about make-up is not only taking up precious beauty space, it's like money pulled out of last year's winter coat pocket.

Don't you love it when that happens!

Next time you run out of product whether it's blush, bronzer, or even eyeshadow, try combining those tidbits of color to customize your own make-up. You'll not only have a haute new color to brag about, you'll also have a color that looks great on YOU! Because you made it to the exact shade YOU like!

I mixed a neutral eyeshadow (above). Gold is haute right now and I had some gold shadow that I'm not too keen on my eyelids by itself, but mixed with a hint of natural face powder, and some leftover pink blush (pink really makes my green eyes pop!)... I now have a natural base eyeshadow with a tint of pink and speckles of gold! Beautiful!

I also made a bronzer from a matte bronzer that was almost all gone (above). To it I added the gold eyeshadow, a tiny bit of the pink blush, some darker powder (from summer), and some pearly-opal colored shadow that was almost gone as well.

Viola! Fabulous custom-made make-up from colors I already know look great on my skin!

Ready, set, style... it's a FABULOUS New Year!

This year I am stretching to be a little more domestic, a little more resourceful, and a little more productive.

Productivity is coming to town...

Recently I made this leopard print skirt. The pattern I drafted from a skirt I have in my own wardrobe that fits perfect. I wanted this skirt to be longer, so I also added to that pattern two inches in the length. The fabric was some fabulous fabric I had previously purchased with this exact plan in mind. Then I added my own style to it with a V-neck tee and modern-edgy jewelry. Don't forget the manicure too ladies when you are putting your look together. Your nails get noticed more than you think... just look around!

Next I am planning to make more patterns - blouses, tees, dresses - tailored and summer, maxis too!), maybe some pajamas, who knows. I have also been working on other items, not only clothing. I will take pics and post them too!
