SIMPLIFICATION-IZATION

SIMPLIFICATION-IZATION “IT’S SIMPLE!”

STYLE TIP: Simplify your life.
Some of you may have already gotten the "Simplify your life" wrath from me, but some of us need reminding...

In a good economy or bad we need simplicity in our lives. The holidays are nearing the corner and it is only common sense that we should get rid of every and anything that does not make us happy. This is an all or nothing project. Belongings stood with “potential” for more than a month, that “might” change the way you feel someday, are better off out. If it’s on the fence toss it. Sound simple? Some have a miserable time letting go, others fly through this step. That is an excellent example of our beautiful individuality. Trust me, once you conquer this step you will have a sense of relief and, believe it or not, less stress. Obtaining and recognizing control in your life honestly feels terrific. Think about it, less to worry about, less to juggle, less to finance, “less is more“.

Now, I must enlighten you on how to incorporate this “simplification-ization” into your wardrobe. Imagine, your wearing your favorite ensemble, the color scheme is flawless with your skin, and let’s face it, inside you feel fabulous. As the day carries through, coincidentally, nothing phases you. This is your day and you want to be you.Okay, new day… you wake up, decide to wear a shirt that’s “eh”, but it has been hanging desperately in your closet, unworn, for some time and for some strange reason you feel guilty for the abandonment. It’s all wrong for you, you know this, but you bought it and have only worn it a couple times (because looking in the mirror at yourself, while wearing it makes your nose crinkle). You put it on carrying-on anyway, as your body twists and wiggles fighting for comfort, you begin releasing “blah #1”. As you near the mirror, staring at you is “blah #2” looking in, the color makes you feel terrible. It is what is, you remind yourself that the shirt needs to be worn, you bought it and you are going to just wear it anyway. Side-tracking yourself takes your mind and with down-notes starting to hum inside, your tone with others you associate with throughout the day is miserable, “blah #3”. As the day progresses, everything you encounter irritates you, one thing after the other, causing “blah 4, blah 5,...” By the end of the day all you are thinking is “blah, blah, blah!, BLAH!!”

All of that simply because you wore a shirt you didn’t quite care for? Crazy as it seems, “YES!” One might be thinking, “Who cares?! They‘re just clothes!!“ If you don’t believe me run the experiment yourself. Wear your favorite outfit one day and something you despise another. Then evaluate, even tell a friend and see if they can separate your actions. It’s so involuntary it‘s almost amusing!

My point is, why keep things in your closet that only tempt you to throw on when there’s nothing else clean, so you can set yourself up for a bad day? Why go through so much turmoil to do a shirt a favor? Donate the item to a friend or charity - look for a "Dress For Success" in your area, or even your garage sale pile, but get it out of there. Prevent yourself from a similar recurrence, ask for opinions from a truthful source, and really think of how you feel when you have the garment on. “If you feel good in your clothes, then it comes out naturally.“-(designer Stella McCartney for Harper‘s Bazaar Magazine: Secrets of EFFORTLESS Styling.) Keep it simple and you will never look like you’re trying to hard or, worse yet, that you didn‘t try at all. Surprise, you’ll start dressing like you are in control of what you wear! You’ll even save time in the morning, satisfied in your entire wardrobe without the fuss of changing five hundred times. Listen ladies, your husband might find it difficult to be convinced that you have nothing to wear if your closet is an overflowing mess of 'hopefuls'.

I prefer boutique-style, a "European Closet". A necessary (ample for your work, leisure, and social lifestyle) amount of high quality basics mixed with a little spunk that I feel, and therefore look, luxurious and independent in.

Once you’ve adopted this “simplification-ization” you will find yourself implementing it more and more, making it a lifestyle even. Try using it with household items, your car, your desk/office, even small items such as your purse or wallet. Do we really need all of this “stuff” just sitting around us! When you travel, or on a holiday, what do you bring with you? “Stuff” you need right? Therefore, knowing we can survive without the “chotch“, it only makes sense to keep the necessities - what you love and make you happy. It's a fabulous day to surround ourselves by the things we love. You can't change the world but you can change YOU, share your happiness with the world.
Simple!
